§ 2-1. City seal.

  • The following described seal is hereby adopted as the official seal of the city:

    A circle consisting of fifty (50) stars, representing the fifty (50) states of this great union of the United States of America; inside the circle of stars, the following words, "SEAL of the CITY of LANETT, ALABAMA"; to inside of those words, another circle with the following words divided by two (2) stars, "BLUFFTON CHARTERED DEC. 7, 1865"; "LANETT CHARTERED FEB. 1, 1895"; inside that circle another circle which is divided into four (4) equal parts; in the upper left are five (5) stars and three (3) dark and three (3) light stripes, which represent our national flag; in the upper right portion are the gears of industry and the quill, bobbin and thread, which represent the textile industry which has played an important part in our past; in the lower right portion is a replica of the flag of the great State of Alabama, which represents the important ties between Lanett and the State of Alabama and other Alabama cities; in the lower left portion is the Indian tepee and the rising sun, which represent the rich Indian heritage of our area.
